It’s a Weekend Wonder

WonderConComic Convention with Animation Attractions

The 25th Annual WonderCon is coming to Moscone Center in SF April 1-3 and includes plenty of cartoon-related attractions. Besides all of those muscle-bound superheroes and wide-eyed manga types, however, there’s a good bit of animation woven into the event:

The fifth annual SF Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival returns with more than 100 films made for children and teens from around the world. All screenings are in room 272/274 (the West Mezzanine) and are free with admission to WonderCon. While the program includes live-action shorts, the majority of films are animated, and programs are scheduled for all three days.

Meanwhile, there are also a number of panel discussions and screenings of potential interest to ASIFA members. There are panels on Videogaame Industry (Fri. at 1pm, 5:30pm) Writing for Animation on TV (Fri. at 3:30, Sat. at 5:30pm), the creative team of Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time series (Sat. 11am) a premiere of DC’s new direct-to-DVD cartoon Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and screenings of new and old Anime faces. Plus, cosplay galore, the massive dealer’s room and other inspirational stuff. I wonder where to begin…
