Tippett’s Mad God Project
The guru of go-mo and founder of Tippett Studios is going back to his pixelated roots with an old-fashioned, relatively low-tech puppet film entitled Mad God, “an experimental, hand-made, animated film, set in a Miltonesque world of monsters, mad scientists, and war pigs.” This labor of love by the heir apparent to Ray Harryhausen’s monster empire began back in the 1980s but was shelved as CGI took over.
Now, Phil has revived the project, and with the help of a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign and volunteer help, this crazy passion project is lurching ahead with new life. The film is not for the faint-hearted (neither the subject matter nor its execution!) but if you are a fan of good old monsters-on-the-loose-movies, Mad God promises to be one for the ages… You can check out the trailer here.
