It’s an exciting stretch of summer screenings for animation fans over the next few weeks, featuring live appearances to boot! First up is a showing of rare Walt Disney’s Laugh-O-Grams at the Castro Theater, as part of the 16th Annual San Francisco Silent Film Festival (10am, Sunday July 16). In coordination with the Walt Disney Family Museum and Pixar, Disney historians Leonard Maltin and JB Kaufman will introduce a selection of rare Laugh-O-Gram shorts from 1921–23, which have been recently preserved by The Museum of Modern Art.
The Silent Film Festival predominantly showcases live action films, but they have consistently found worthy animated films from the silent era. Be sure to support their continuing good work!
