Make Mine ‘Mation

Maker Faire: The World’s Largest DIY Festival
San Mateo, May 21-22

There’s all sorts of creative work and inspiration on tap at this two-day, family-friendly event to MAKE, create, learn, invent, CRAFT, recycle, think, play, and be inspired by celebrating arts, crafts, engineering, food, music, science, innovation, creativity, ingenuity and technology. In 2009 the Video and Music Crew from the Riekes Center Creative Arts Department set up shop so civilians could try their hand at stop motion (above; you can see other DIY animations on youTube.). Last year we stumbled upon Pixar’s Jim Capobianco’s Leonardo CD short on sale at the faire, and rumor has it The Tinkering Studio might show up with some of their stop-motion wood projects.  No telling what else might appeal to animation fans at the show, but if you’re intrigued, book ahead and get there early! The show’s growing exponentially every year.

Saturday, May 21 10AM -8PM, Sunday, May 22, 10AM – 6PM
San Mateo County Event Center, 2495 S. Delaware St, San Mateo, CA 94403.
